My sister and I drove down to Vacouver to spend Easter with my mom and her side of the family. We had a great (but short) weekend! While we were there we tried to get a picture of the cousins. I won't name names, but 1 of they wouldn't sit still...

One of my friends made Memphis a shirt for every holiday. How cool is that?! They are all in the right sizes. Easter was the first of them and I think its a super cute shirt!! I also think the little guy wearing it is pretty darn cute too!!

Its a bit late, but here are the pictures of Memphis @ 2 months! I can't believe the difference between 1 month and 2! He is getting so big so fast! It cracks me up that nathan and I are pretty tall, and Memphis is only in the 1oth percentile. I am sure he will grow. Also, his legs are so short!! Like seriously I think they make up 10% of his length! Lets hope they get longer!

Nathan and I took the opportunity to go down to california while nathan was on spring break! Let me tell you, flying with with a baby (5 weeks old) basically means you have to pack at least half of your house plus a few extra things. Oh did I mention that we decided to take peanut? So going thru security we had peanut, his carrier, memphis, his carrier, my diaper bag, Nathan's backpack, my boppy, AND our stroller. After going thru security I swear I needed a shower from all the sweat! How do people do this?! But Memphis did great on the flight, no complains there!

Being in California with a baby was much different then the other times we have gone down. This trip was much more low keep, but we were all ok with that. We just spend a lot of time with my parents. But that's why we went down there, to just be in California and be with my parents.

I seriously have a 1 month old?! How is that possible?! Well no matter if I believe it or not that's what we have here. Memphis is 1 month old!

If you remember from the post below, Memphis was born 6 lbs 3 oz. He gained 3 lbs in a month! That's crazy!! We are so happy he is healthy and growing like he should be!

Since we don't have our Mickey yet, we had to do some size reference with Peanut. Mind you he is only 7 lbs.

Our St Patties day outfit. I have a 1st st patty's day shirt, but it was too big and I was too tired to change his shirt just for a picture, after I had already put him in this. At least he was in green!!

We also had our first offiical family outing the other day! My sister was in town for the day with her in-law family so we decided to meet up with them at the aquarium. Unfortunately this is the only picture we have of the event. Memphis did a great job! He basically slept the whole time in the ergo. We love our ergo! So comfy for me and he was so snuggly in the infant insert!

Our next adventure, going to church for the 1st time!

Labor Story

FYI-this is a full labor story, so if you do not want to know details, I wouldn't read...

For those who haven't been close to me (location-wise) during this pregnancy, I have had high blood pressure from about 20 weeks. It's been something my OB's had been keeping an eye on the whole time, in fact towards the end I was put on blood pressure meds to try and keep it in check.

I had a normal OB appt on monday and at each appt they have you check your urine. For the first time I tested ++ for protein in my urine. Not a good sign. Because of this, she had me do a 24 hr urine test. Yeah, just as fun as it sounds. So, tuesday I went back into to the dr with my "belongings" to drop off and to get more blood work done. I figured I would hear from my dr's office by friday if they found anything, or at my next appt if they hadn't found anything.

I was about to start packing up wednesday night around 6 to leave work to go home. I saw my phone had a voicemail. I thought it was going to be a friend about my baby shower thursday evening. Yeah, it was my dr telling me that I needed to go check into triage because I had indeed finally developed pre-eclampsia. Not what I was expecting. After I calmed myself down, I let my coworkers know that I wasn't going to be in the next day.

I got home, showered, collected all of our hospital bag ite

ms, put the carseat in the car (we had gotten it in the mail the day before). We got to the hospital, got checked in and settled into our room. My OB decided she was going to start me on a cervix softener overnight. (Like a big shoe string with medicine on the end) She said I might have some mild cramping after about 6 hrs. Yeah, an hour into it I started having cramping. Didn't get much sleep that night...

Beautiful I know!

I was allowed to eat breakfast in the morning at about 7:30. I was sitting finishing my breakfast and I felt like I had peed! But, at 8:20 am, my water broke by itself! At 10 am I was started on Pitocin. My mom came in on the 1st flight and was able to be at the hospital by then. Usually contractions start out about 20-5 min apart. ALL of mine started 2 1/2 min apart and only got shorter.

After about 5 hrs or so of me not moving or talking, working thru the contractions my dr came in and said my blood pressure was getting too high. Like 200/120 with a higher dose of blood pressure medicine. I had 2 choices, have an epidural or be put on magnesium sulfate. I was wanting to go natural and be able to squat during pushing. The epidural would likely drop my BP and magnesium would most likely do the same, but since its a muscle relaxor it has a chance of stopping labor and I would have to have a C-section. I chose the epidural.

Once that was in, oh man I felt like a new women! I was all chatty and couldn't believe how good I felt! I was able to still move and feel my legs, just didn't have pain! The nurse suggested for me to take a nap and build up my strength for delivery. I was ok with that and took about an hr nap.

When I woke up I was having some tailbone pain. I figured it was from the way I was sleeping. I also felt like I really had to pee, strange because I had a catheter in. At this point the nurse said it would be a good time to check and see how far along I was. Before my nap she check me and I was a 4. And after the nap, a 10! The most productive nap I have ever had!!! He wasn't fully descended, so they had be sit up cross legged for an hr to help him descend. After an hr the nurse said, OK, its time to push! What?! That fast?

I pushed for about an hr and a half and he was out!!! all 6 lbs 3 oz of him!

We had the joy of staying in the hospital from wednesday to Sunday, I had to be on meds for my high blood pressure and Memphis had to go under the bililights for 12 hrs overnight.

But we are at home and figuring out each other. He sleeps fairly well at night and for the most part is an agreeable baby. He does not do a good job getting his bubbles out, but we are working on that. He also doesn't fit into most of his clothes, but at the rate he is eating, that won't be the case for much longer!

We couldn't be more happy with this cute little guy!

I know its been over a year since I have blogged, and there are many reasons for that. 1 being, who wants to hear week in and week out about me (Amy) working 50-70 hr weeks? I don't think that is too exciting. 2, the things we are doing either don't strike me as blogging material, or I forget to bring a camera and have no evidence of what we have done.

Anyway, I have good intentions is bring our blog back to life! Mostly because of this little bun in the oven that has family living all over the US who I'm sure will want to see pictures come his big arrival (March 7thish)

But, since we have done a few things since I blogged last, here are some pictures of things we have done (may not be in perfect chronological order):

Got the world's most awesomest 7 lb dog named Peanut! We are 110% obsessed with this dog!

Saw my brother get married to a wonderful girl! She has been part of our family for a long time, but the wedding just made it official!! It was also the 2nd wedding that I did a big chunk of the wedding planning! Someday I hopefully will be able to do that as a full time mom-job!

Went to Disneyland, while 13 weeks pregnant! Went on all the rides and felt great! This little guy can never say he hasn't been to disneyland!

On the same trip to Cali, got stung by a sting ray while going boogie boarding for the 1st time (while pregnant mind you)

Hosted and cooked my first thanksgiving! It was just my sister, her hubby and my neice, with nathan and I for thanksgiving. We had a great feast!!

Other things not pictured, Nathan is in the YM's presidency and I am an advisor in the YW's. We are loving those callings! We are also Apartment managers for a 52 unit complex. That plus school keep Nathan pretty busy.

Maybe before I have this kid I will get some pictures of me preggers.

to have a debt all taken care of. I paid off my car yesterday! It was a 5 year loan and I paid it off in less than 3 years. Not that exciting of a blog, but something that I am very proud of!!

Its funny how things turn out sometimes. Our life has done so many 180's lately, I am still dizzy!! Its just crazy all the changes that can happen in such a short period of time. I quit my job in mid february, started my new job in the beginning of April, nathan put in his 2 week notice the same week and started a new job a week later. We decided to become apartment managers in a weeks time, and moved 3 weeks later. And now to top it all off, we have decided nathan is going to quit his job AGAIN, but this time go to school full time.

We really view all the things that have happened over the last 4 months to really be a preparation for us knowing that this is the time for him to go to school. We are both excited and scared, but we both feel like its just the right thing to do for our family.

So, if you need your car worked on, I know of someone that will have some more free time come this september...

The down low

SO, I have been a HUGE slacker with my blog, but I like to think I have pretty good reason too. We have been CRAZY busy lately and things are only just barely starting to slow down.

Here is a list of things that are going on:

-biggest on the list, my family is moving to San Diego! My dad is down there already, he started working on the 12 of July at the San Diego airport. So, we have been helping my parents get their house ready to sell

- We also moved a month ago. An opportunity came up that we couldn't pass up! A block, and I do really mean a block, away from where we are living there is another town house complex that needed an onsite manager. And to make a long story short, we moved in to be the managers!! That has taken up most of our time lately, with people moving in, moving out, and there was a huge back log of work to be done before we even moved in!!! But things are starting to slow down a little bit. Some day we can have time to hang out with people.

-4th of July we went to a family reunion in Utah, or as nathan likes to call it, the mother land. It was for the family on my dad's side. It was so wonderful to see family, some of which I haven't seen in years. And some that nathan hasn't even met.

-Work has been crazy! I feel soooooo lucky to have such an amazing job. I have been bless a thousand times over! I have a ton more responsibility and what I do makes such an impact on everything that is done here, but the best part of it all...... they appreciate the hard work that I do and recognize when I have done things. I know, you would think that is a duh thing, but when you work at a place for 3 years and you don't get those things, its so wonderful when you feel needed.

Sorry another long post with a run down on things. I will hopefully have something more exciting with some pictures soon. When we finally get unpacked I will take pics of our new place!!!

I found this recipe and thought I would share it with you all. It's actually pretty tasty for only taking about 7 minutes!

4T flour

4T sugar

2 T cocoa

1 egg

3 T milk

3T oil

vanilla

chocolate chips (optional)

mix first 3 together

mix in egg

mix in milk and oil

mix in vanilla and chips

(mixing can be done in mug or in separate bowl)

microwave for 3 minutes

allow to cool for ~2 minutes

ENJOY your chocolate cake!

This is what happens when I don't listen to my husband. At least that's what one of my coworkers said.

This nice and beautiful bruise comes compliments of our 3rd baseman on my softball team. I play first base and he had a pretty wild throw that bounced just perfectly and rammed right into my calf. This happened on monday, and it's only wednesday, and the picture doesn't do it justice. Its a lot darker. Something even more special, if you look at the inside of the bruise, the non bruised skin kinda looks like a heart. I know, too much time staring at my bruise, but it keeps growing! Tuesday it seriously doubled in size!!

In other exciting news I got a 'suspicious spot' take off my shoulder on monday. They think it could be skin cancer. I'm not really that worried if it is, because come on, I'm a red head with fair skin. I basically counted on some day getting some skin cancer. I wasn't however ready for the amount of skin they would remove! They took out about 1/2 inch deep!! Gross.

2 wounds in 1 day, I think I should win an award or something...

A milestone in our marriage

there are certain events that I would qualify as a milestone in marriages. The first year anniversary, first fight, first house, first child, etc.

Well 2 nights ago we hit our a big one. Nathan slept on the couch for the first time. One would ask why in the heck I would tell the world that my husband slept on the couch. That usually mean we had a big fight and I wouldn't let him sleep in our bed. Well that's not the case.

We had been watching TV and nathan started to fall asleep on the couch. It was getting late so I suggested we go to bed and this is how our conversation went

N: I'm going to sleep on the couch.

I thought he was being funny

A: that's fine with me.

started to gather my things to go upstairs.

N: will you charge my phone for me please?

A: wait, are you serious about sleeping down here

N: Yeah, I said I was going to sleep down here

A: Oh, I thought you were joking, sure I'll charge your phone, don't you need an alarm.

N: Sure, you can set it for 7, and I'll wake up when you are getting ready.

We are so weird, so he really slept on the couch all night while I enjoyed the middle of our queen bed all night long, with a heating pad so I didn't freeze to death. Ahhh, the joys of being married.

Joining the 17.5 million

People who drive to Seattle for work. That's right! After about a month and a half of being able to stay at home, I will be starting work on monday! I will be working for a company called EnerG2 to see their website go here. I couldn't be more happy or more exited about this opportunity. This just proves to me that heavenly father really knows what's best for us and by putting our faith in him he blesses us more than we could ever know!

I will be working in Fremont (just west of UW, north of downtown Seattle) and from what I have learned and seen, they are a great company!

Look for more posts to come soon as I start this new chapter. I appreciate all of the support and prayers. Nathan and I know they have made a difference. We are so blessed to have such amazing friends and family!

My sister and husband are in Vegas and we are very jealous. Nathan talks all the time about wanting to go back. So while they are gone my family and me are taking care of their cute little (not really little) Great Dane puppy. He's name is Zeus and I am in love with him. He has been my little pal for the past 2 days. So let me tell you a few fun things we have done.

Look at those ribs! You would think he was starving, but he eats a lot! ( And he is the size of a small boxer at about 2 months old, crazy!!)

-Zeus has been sleeping in our bed with us and for some reason likes to be closer to Nathan which bugs the heck out of me, and him.

-Around 5:30 when he thinks it a good time to start playing, I move down with him to the couch so nathan can sleep a little more before going to work. This morning we stayed on the couch til about 9. He was sleeping in the crook of my legs with his head on my hip. I about died it was so cute. I had started to fall asleep again, but was woken up from a really weird sound. Zeus was barking a weird little bark in his sleep and him whole little body was twitching. He was going to catch whatever he was chasing!

How could you not love this face and HUGE ears?!

-Yesterday I took him for a walk down a semi-busy street to get to a fun little park. It took us twice as long to get there because did you know how scary trucks and buses are?!! He had to stop, run away from the street, sit and watch them go by. So funny!

- Right by our town house is a little forest area. I took him on a little walk without the leash. He was in heaven! He would run down the little path, then wait for me to catch up to him, wait for me to pet him, the run off again.

Big Update!

So I know that I have been a big slacker on this blog, so I am going to do a big update!

About 3 weeks ago I had my last day at Sienna, it was time to leave and to go some place new. The job search is going alright. I had an interview last wednesday with a company in seattle and am waiting to hear from them. I have been apply to a bunch of place, so we will see.

I have been enjoying my time off though. Here is a list of some of the things I have done while staying at home:
-sleeping in!
-walking around green lake
-putting a baby shower on for my good friend Keilah
-walking my parents dogs
-reading
-hanging out with Fern and her 2 adorable boys!
-went to the Zoo
-saw my sister, brother in law and their cute dog Zeus
-cooking! I have been trying to make different types of food, nathan has been very patient with me!

That about sums up what I have been doing in my spare time. Its been nice, but I am trying to find a new place to work, so if you know of places that are hiring, let me know!

Before Halloween (so long ago, but our we finally got a card reader for our camera) we went to a corn maze out in Snohomish with our friends Soren, Kylee and Michael and Megan. We decided to not do the haunted maze, and just stick to the one you are supposed to get lost in. I think we went the 'normal ways' for about 20 min, then it turned into total chaos.

We have our christmas tree up, its actually been up for over a week now. Since we've only been married a year and a half, we don't have a ton of ornaments. So we get a smaller tree, but a real tree none the less. Nathan's mom would give her kids an ornament every year growing up so they would have them for when they got married. We have a lot of those ones on our tree. We have carried on a tradition that my family has and that's getting ornaments from places we go, or of things we have done in the past year. Also, we have colored lights on our tree. I have heard of a lot of people calling them ugly, but I like them. So they aren't ugly to everyone. And the 1 present under the tree? Yeah that's from nathan to me. Lets just say that christmas shopping is a little behind this year.....

Unless its 7 brides for 7 brothers! And that's exactly what my wonderful husband took me too last night!! (Actually last night, 12/4. This is an actual post of something that happened recently, surprising I know!)

If you have ever seen the movie, which is amazing, its just like it! But I would say way better because it's live. Nathan told me to not plan anything for friday because he wanted to take me to the play. But we were actually able to find tickets on Craigslist for thursday for 1/4th the cost of the face value!!

Our seats where on floor level on the right side about 20 rows back. They were awesome! Back far enough to see the whole stage and we were able to see over the peoples heads in front of us.

The music was superb. Did anyone else know the orchestra only has like 20 people in it at the 5th Ave? I had no idea! The amount of music they produce is insane! I had to keep telling myself that it was not recorded.

The singing was crazy! A few times I got goosebumps. I know that is kinda cliche, but I really did.

And of course, the dancing was great! They had I think like 4 or 5 big dancing scenes. I think I had the biggest grin on my face like a 7 year old during those parts. Actually probably through the whole thing.

Bottom line, go see it. It's a great production. And if you are going to see it, look on craigslist for tickets. You might be surprised with the deals that you can get from there.

Chris and Allison invited a group of us over (before halloween) to carve pumpkins with them for FHE. We decided to go with just one pumpkin to carve, because I usually take about 3 hours to do just one. Here are some cute pictures of the evening!

Since I probably won't be on the Internet tomorrow, I just want to wish everyone a Very happy thanksgiving. I love this time of year, especially this holiday. Not only do we get 2 days off work, but it's a day to remember all the things that we have been given, and all the things we have to be thankful for. I hope you can take a few minutes to remember all the blessings that you have and for the real things you have to be thankful for.

(And that can include ALL the good food you will be consuming!!!)

So I promise to update my blog this week, maybe even tonight.

But I have to write about what happened last night. Nathan and I were sitting on the coach watching TV after having finished dinner. I got up in his face and was asking him something that now I can't remember. I was being annoying and giving him little kisses on his face when he licked my face. I mean straight up licked me, but not once, twice before I could get away. So I pulled away, waited, then licked his cheek. Most people would think this made the situation an almost equal situation. Oh no, not to Nathan. He started to come towards me on the coach, and I started screaming, WE'RE EVEN!!!! WE'RE EVEN!!!!!! A scratched hand, knocked over TV tray, messed up hair and wet face later, he made sure that he was way ahead in this situation.

We are so weird.........

As some of you may know, Nathan was laid off 3 weeks ago from Dynamic Diesel. The economy in the area just wasn't doing too well. I think everyone knows how the economy is doing nation wide, and on top of that Boeing has been on strike. Between these 2 events, work slowed down almost to a halt. Nathan being the newest addition to the company became the lowest man of the totem pole. So, he was put on 'temporary' laid off.

He handled this much better than I did. I think I spent the rest of the day crying on and off at work, thinking about the most horrible things that could happen next (it was more than slightly ridiculous, but scary none the less). But Nathan took it like a champ, he saw it as a much needed vacation. Not that he wasn't looking for a job, but it was a little bit of time for him to not be working and relax.

After applying to a few different places and actually turning down a job, we have found a very nice fit for him. Its called Alignments Plus, located in Bellevue WA. He is liking it so far and it seems the guys are pretty cool.

I wanted to thank everyone who has us in their thoughts and prayer. I'm getting a little choked up just writing this. This experience has helped Nathan and I become that much closer and has taught me a thing of 2 about the real world and being an adult. Neither or which, I found out, I really like all that much. All of the kind words, deeds and thoughts have not gone unnoticed. We love and appreciate all of our family and friends!!

Night out on the town!!

Last weekend Nathan and I went on a date with Tyler and Fern. We went out to the Jet City Improv at the Historic University Theatre. But first w needed to kill some time. So we went to a Tully's down the street and played Skipo. For those that have not played skipo before, it's pretty fun, even though I'm pretty sure I haven't won yet. (if you know me, that says a lot about a game)

Jet City improv is very similar to who's line is it anyway. They play different games where the actors have to improv based on audience participation. What I really liked about the Jet City, is they pride themselves in being clean family appropriate comedy. Not too easy to find in Seattle. They were so funny! Fern and I had a lot of fun giving suggestions!

After the show we went to Beth's Cafe. Only the best place to get omelets. Fern forgot to tell Tyler about the 'type' of people that worked there. I'm pretty sure he was a little leery of the place when we first went in. If you've never been there before the place seems pretty shady, but its definitely a diamond in the ruff. We had a great time, the food was amazing like always!

It was a lot of fun, can't wait for our next Oppie/Thompson date night!

I had a really neat experience last night. I was able to take part in listener advisory board meeting. I filled out a servey for movin 92.5 about their morning show. They also asked if I would be willing to take part a member of the listener advisory board. I said yes, but figured I wouldn't get picked. So I took the survey and forgot about the whole thing.

Monday I get a call from Maynard, one of the producers/dj's on the show asking if I wanted to come in on wednesday. I went into their office in Bellevue wednesday evening along with 14 other women and they asked us about what we listen to in the mornings, what we do and don't like about their morning show (the ladies room) and what suggestions we have for them. It was a really neat experience. They were really interested in what we had to say and wrote down the ideas we came up with. I'm interested in seeing if they use any of our ideas!

After the meeting, they took us around the studio and we got to meet Kaz, the evening DJ and listen to him talk on the air. They sent us on our way with a goodie bag with a waterbottle, pen, window cling, etc. But the best thing they are giving us is a pair of tickets to their house party!! Its a big concert they do one a year (like most radio stations) with a bunch of old school groups. Like last year they had Coolio, Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock, Naughty By Nature, and
Tony! Toni! Toné. So I'm excited to see who they have this year!

So in recap, I have gone to Shrek the music for free (which by the way in AMAZING!!!!! If you have a chance to see it, GO. I can't even explain to you how cool it was, costumes, the stage, quality of singing and acting were supurb. Its going straight to broadway after it's here in seattle) I will be going to so you think you can dance, the house party and we will be going to Phantom of the Opera this year too. Its the year of shows, in the last 4 months of the year at least!

So please try not to start stalking us because you are so jealous that you want to become like us. Our amazing friends Fern and Tyler Thompson are really the ones to be jealous of. They were given tickets to Shrek the Musical, and just happened to have 2 extra tickets. Because we have bribed them to be our friends, they have asked us to go with them!

What is Shrek the musical you ask? Its the untold stories of Shrek based on the movie and book (didn't know there was one). And after a pit stop in seattle, the show is off to Broadway!!

That's the first step to change right? Admitting you have a problem? Well, if you call being addicted to a TV show, then I guess I have a BIG problem.

I don't watch a ton of TV, or really follow that many shows. Except for So you think you can dance!! It's pretty much my favorite show. I love it so much I had a co-worker put the finally on a DVD for me because my DVR missed it.

And now Nathan found a way for me to prolong my addiction of the show. By finding tickets to the show is Tacoma. That's right, you heard me right!!! We are going on september 20th to the So you think you can dance show!!! The tickets sold out really fast, I mean in like 45 min. So where did we find out tickets you ask?? Only the best place to find things you can't live with out. Craigslist. I have to admit, I (speaking only for myself, not sure about nathan) have NEVER spent so much money on a set of tickets, I actually try not the think about it, but when else will I be able to see them on stage. Oh, that's right never!!

So try not to be jealous next time you see me knowing that I will be going to the best show, on the planet!!

My wife thinks I won't do this.

Contrary to popular belief i do know how to put an entry into a blog. As of late my typing has been hindered from three stitches on my pinkie finger and two stitches on my middle finger, and to top it off the tip of my finger is broken. Now I try and do things as Amy would with my left hand and I'm not as versatile as I thought. How did it happen? Lets just say I had a disagreement with a 5 ton jack at work, and I came out a little worse for wear. Good thing I waited two days after our final softball game to mangle my hand. Softball this year was incredible!! We had the best team by far with a final record of 7-1 for the regular season. We lost our "playoff" game by a slim margin of 2, coming up just short on our last rally. My personal belief is that any softball team in that league is as good as the females who play on it. Most outfielders would come in shallow for the girls and play deep for the guys. I think our team was the only one where the outfielders didn't have to move. Every girl on our team could hit, run, throw, and play their position as good as anybody. We were short a few of our regular females for the last two games and ended up losing. That's softball according to Nathan anyway. All things considered life is good. Enjoying our new residence at the luxurious Crest view town homes. The amenities are fabulous and mimic the lifestyle of a 5 star resort.......almost. Anywho just thought I'd put in my two cents worth on the blog and show the blogging world I am real and not just the guy in the pictures next to the gorgeous redhead.

So we have been VERY busy lately. I had my birthday weekend of fun, the next weekend we moved, then the weekend after that we went to San Fran for a week! Needless to say, I haven't had much time to write! But I will do some catching up.

June 28th

This was my birthday extravaganza day! It was started off by an AMAZING trip on the Duck in Seattle. If you have never ridden on the Duck, I suggest you do. Leilani and Michael came along with us. We went at 10:30 and the weather was perfect. They drive you around the settle area telling you all about the city, and then they drive straight into the water by gas works park. We got an unobstructed view of the Seattle skyline from the water and got to see all the house boats on the lake. I still talk about how cool it was.

That night we went to Red Robin for my birthday dinner with a bunch of my friends! That is always fun. That was my 10th time having dinner at Red Robin for my birthday. Gotta love it!!

June 4th weekend

Thursday the 3rd, moving day. On how fun, right. We tried to get as much packed as we could during the week, but with parties, and just life, we weren't as packed as we would have like to have been. But between my family, Nathan's family and some great friends, we were able to have everything out of our apartment, into our town house by Friday.

We had a pretty laid back 4th, starting with a BBQ at my parents house. Our good friends Tyler and Fern with cute kids Mack and Henry came over for the day also. We played games, rode the moped and just had a good time hanging out. We then set off fireworks. We only had a few go off really close, including one that went off about 2 feet from all of us. I'm not sure if Tyler will ever set fireworks off with my family again.

Week and Weekend of July 7th

We try to unpack as much as we can so we can pack up to leave for San Fran (I will post about our trip in another blog after I get ALL the pics on our computer) I love being in a town house!! It feel so much more homey than an apartment. Plus, instead of their being about 80-100 apartments, there are only 20 town houses. And, there are 6 other couples that we go to church with who live in our complex.

Even with all the stress and excitement we have had, things are going really well. Sorry for the really long post without pics, I promise my next post will have lots of amazing pictures of our wonderful trip to San Fran!!

Birthday update #1

So Nathan took me to a very nice Italian restaurant last night. Now its not just any Italian restaurant, but one that my Turkish boss recommends as being true Italian food. And was it ever! The name of the place is Assaggio Ristorante in Seattle on 4th Ave. For the first time since we have been married, I think I got a more expensive dinner than nathan! We shared 2 appetizers and I got Grilled beef tenderloin, gorgonzola, red wine sauce and nathan got Sautéed veal, prosciutto, sage, white wine & butter sauce. So good! Glad we branched out and tried new things!!

We forgot our camera, so all these pics are from the Internet, I'm lame, I know!

But before we got down to Seattle, Nathan gave me my birthday present. Oh was I surprise!! He got me a Garmin!

For those of you who don't know, I'm not always the best with directions and knowing where I am in unfamiliar places. I do great off directions, but usually have to print them out. Well, now all I have to do it type in the address, and Cloe (that's what we named her) tells us where we are going! You can also look up places, like gas stations, restaurants, and banks, and it will show you the ones closest to where you are at! Thanks Honey, I love it so much!!! I'm so spoiled by my husband!!

After Assaggio, we used the Garmin to direct us to the Melting Pot for some dessert (even though we knew how to get there). We got some drinks, and a chocolate peanut butter fondue to share!!

I also received so many texts, email and messages on myspace and facebook from all my friends and family. I feel so blessed to know how many people love me and to know that I am surrounded (near and far) by the most amazing network of people! Thanks for making my birthday so special!

So this was a pretty busy weekend for us. It started with Leilani's wedding on friday. Everything went pretty smooth, so all the planning paid off! I think I should start a side business of a wedding planner. I couldn't be happier for the 2 of them! They looked so happy and she was beautiful!!

Saturday was spent with my grandparents who were visiting from Wisconsin. Oh how I have missed them! We started the day off at Patty's eggnest in Mill Creak and then later drove down to the museum of flight. Its pretty cool! That was my first time ever going there. Nathan and I decided that we are going to go back sometime and fly in one of the airplanes they have there! I let you know when that happens!

Sunday was of course father's day. We made eggs benedict at my parents house in the morning then went off to church. Lunch was at my parents, and we had really good salmon! We have become the masters of sharing holidays! After lunch and some Wii playing, we ventured up to Nathan's parents were we had dinner. We also have some Wii playing time and had this really good cheese cake with fresh strawberry puree and strawberry slices! So good!

We are both so thankful for our fathers this time of year. The blessings of having our fathers so close are wonderful! I am thankful for having been raised in a family with a righteous priesthood holder. I can't wait for the day to have our children call the man I love 'Dad"

I love the kids, but not THAT much

So Nathan and I are still in the nursery, and we love the kids in there. But we don't love getting sick from being in there! I think this is the 5th time we have gotten sick from the kids in the nursery. And its the same thing everytime. Sore throat, tired, dizzy, etc. Your run of the mill cold.

We have the kids use hand sanitizer, we try not to have them put toys in their mouths, but to no avail. Any suggestions on how not to get sick? Any would be great, I can't be missing work every other week!!

Trip!!

That's right! We went to Long Beach Washington this past weekend for our Anniversary. And what a great time we had! We left right from work on friday and got into Long Beach at around 10 pm.

Nathan thought it would be fun to drive on the beach. I said ok, but was really nervous and told him not to get stuck. So we are driving in the pitch black down toward the water when our car all of a sudden sinks about 4 inches. Yes, we got stuck in the sand. I then proceed to freak out even more after nathan tries to get unstuck, can't and tells me I have to drive while he pushes from the front. We finally got out, just shy of my starting to cry. I'm so weird.

The next morning we woke up and went to breakfast in town. While eating I was doing my usual of listening to other people's conversations and her a lady talk about the light houses. We went to the 'free museum/gift shop' and looked around for about an hour. It reminds me a lot of "Ye olde curiosity shoppe' on the water front in seattle, really weird and cool at the same time. While paying for the treasures we found, I asked the cashier lady about the light houses and she gave us directions.

This is the Light house at North Head. So cool! Its the first light house I have ever seen in real life. You can read more about it here.

This is a picture of this cool cove by the light house. We then went to the other light house on the coast called cape disappointment. It was nice little hike out to the light house, and had an AMAZING view of the mouth of the colombia and ocean. You can read more about the light house and cape here

Sunday before we had to leave, we drove down to the beach to take one last look at the beautiful beach and get some more pics. Look at Nathan's hair! It was so windy, but you can't tell because my hair was pulled back, so it just looks like he has really big hair.

It was a wonderful anniversary trip. We didn't have to worry about anything but each other and enjoying the short time we had to ourselves.

Sundays at the Oppie's.....

So I didn't think we are really that unique, at least when it came to sundays. We go to church on sunday at 11, come home, eat lunch and then usually watch some kind of disney or church movie, which I then proceed to fall asleep to. Well, Nathan has started to entertain himself while I am unable to do so, or so I thought. These are some pictures he too of me a few sundays ago. As a side note, I did not wake up during any of this.....

Please note that I started with 1 blanket.....which he took off and put back on. And it wouldn't be complete with out a pillow on top!

And as seen here, I ended with 8... I can't believe that I didn't wake up! After I finally did wake up, I thought I was going to die of heat stroke. I got mad (not really, we pretend to get mad a lot) so I threw all the blankets on him and this is the beautiful picture I got from him.....

I freaking love him and this picture!!! I still laugh so hard everytime I see it!!

Pizza!!

Saturday night after helping our good friends move, we decided to go get pizza. But not just any pizza, Chicago style pizza from Wallingford Pizza house. Nathan has a co worker who is obsessed with different kinds of pizza and this is a place he highly recommended. So we decided to give it a shot.

This is how the website described itself. "Wallingford Pizza House is Seattle's only Classic Chicago Style Pizza House located in an old house (built around 1913) in the heart of the Wallingford district and situated snuggly between the two Guild 45th Theaters."

The pizza was great! We go 2 different kinds:

Nathan is modelling the dome. The DOME is their trademark pizza. It's upside down and it comes in a bowl. When she brought it to our table, she put the bowl upside down, and then pried the bowl out giving us what you see in this picture. It was almost more like pizza stew. Pretty yummy!!

This is the 'deep dish' or chicago style pizza. It also can be called a pie, because lets face it, it looks a lot like a pie. If you ever happen to go to this pizza place, I highly recommend the Tomato Basil pizza. That's what this one is and it was to die for! We had chicken added and I didn't want to stop eating it!!

All in all, we decided that this pizza place it very worthy of us returning to in the near future!

* How long have we been together? We have been together for 11 months married on saturday, but we dated/engaged for 1 year and 4 days.

* How old is he? 27

* Who eats more? He does, but unfortunately not by much....

* Who said I love you first? He did, it took me a little bit longer to say it, I wanted to mean it before I just said it.

* Who is taller? He is!! And by like 3-4 inches. I was always so sure I was going to marry someone the same height or an inch taller, but not the case!

* Who can sing better? If you know the Oppie family, you don't even have to ask. Let's just say when they sing Happy Birthday, it in like 20 different octaves and everyone's on key...

* Who is smarter? We are both pretty smart about different things

* Who does the laundry? I do. He knows how but is freaked out about ruining something of mine and I don't mind doing it.

* Who does the dishes? I told Nathan before we were even engaged that I refuse to wash dishes by hand. I hate doing it. I don't mind unloading and I will load if I have to, but he usually does the dishes and has never complained about it.

* Who mows the lawn? We don't have a lawn, but when we do get one I'm sure we will both do it. We both enjoy mowing the lawn.

* Who cooks dinner? I do most of the time, but he is pretty good. He does more baking than cooking. I can improvise better and I think we are tied on baking.

* Who drives? He almost always does.

* Who kissed who first? He asked me if he could kiss me after a week of being 'official'. We were on the front porch of his sister's house.

* Who is more stubborn? I think we can all agree that hands down I am, dang red hair!

* Who is more sensitive? depends, I cry more, and can be sensitive to certain topics, but he is very caring and sensitive also, he only pretends to be all manly ;)

* Who wears the pants? I probably do too often, but not for reasons, I just am too controlling of situations too often. That's the oldest sibling in me

Taxes...

So Nathan and I did our taxes the other day, and we are getting a woping $22 back. 22 bucks, that's it. And if that wasn't bad enough, to send in our tax info thru Turbo Tax, it was going to cost us $17.95. Right, I opted for the 2 stamps. Which means I will be $22 richer by the time christmas come around. So much for a tax break for being married. I told nathan that for next year we should have a kid, just for the tax deduction. He didn't think that was a good idea, might give the kid complexes to know he/she was only for decductions. Whatever...

Tough Choices

Last week was a long week of hard decisions and trials. Long story short, I was offered a new job in Redmond, WA making more than I was making at my previous job. I like the job I have, but this job was going to provide me with some different opportunities and challenges. Nathan and I thought about all the pros/cons and went to the temple about it. We both felt that this was a good decision.

Tuesday is the day. I write a letter giving my 2-week notice, and go and talk with my supervisor. Of course I start crying, and she wants to know if I would be interested in a counter offer. I told her yes, and she went and talked with the president of the company. I go and call Nathan, balling, at work and tell him I don't know what to do! Now I was so confused, didn't know if I wanted to leave or stay and why I was even looking for a new job in the first place. My company decided to match the salary, and I will have more time off when I hit my 3-year mark and a paid pregnancy leave (no worries, not there yet...).

So, Nathan and I decided that it was better for me to stay where I am at. After all that, I'm staying. Trials have a funny way of coming into your life and really stretch your faith. There is no way I would have asked for a raise from my current employer. I guess I needed to be willing to give up something based on faith to get something in return.

I think I'm done with learning experiences for at least another week though.....

No more hair....

So about 2 weeks ago, I chopped my hair off. I mean, I cut about 10 inches off my hair! It's the shortest I have ever had my hair, except for when I was a baby and hair almost no hair. Its been fun trying to figure out how to do simple things, like putting my hair in a pony-tail. The first time I tried, it took me about 10 minutes! So, having short hair is fun and all, but it still takes a bit of work and getting used to. I will post a pictures of my hair as soon as I can get an extra cute picture taken.

Now with the pony tail that I have sitting in a bag at home (looks kinda weird), I am trying to figure out which program I want to donate it to. I only have about 10 inches, so that right there takes some of the organizations out of the running. I am still deciding, any suggestions?

So I was being really good at this whole blog thing, but then I got busy.....But I'm back! So I will give you a over view of the things that have happened since my last posting:

-My (Amy's) parents took the whole fam Damily to Disneyland for the big Christmas present this year!! It was Nathan's first time being there and we all had a blast! We spent 3 days at Disneyland/California adventure and then a day at Universal Studios. Nathan will tell you that he never gave Disneyland enough credit because he has a great time. Our favorite rides were Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion done up in Nightmare before Christmas, All of the 3D shows (Bugs life, Muppet's, Terminator, etc), Jurassic Park and the Tower of Terror, Twilight Zone. We needed a vacation after getting back, but it was a great vacation.

We did our annual gingerbread houses and carousal ride. This year Papa Doug and Grandma Betty came with us, we had a great time!
-Split the holidays between the 2 families. Smart people would have just done one day at one family and then other day at the other family. Oh no, we split both days with both families. Even thought we had a great time, I think this year we will try and not fit everything in!

-We were naughty and went to the New Years Eve party put on in Seattle for the Single adults. But we had Chris and Allison come with us so we didn't feel too bad. We watched the fireworks over the space needle. Needless to say, we weren't that excited about them, due to malfunctions, but we had a nice evening without them.
That pretty much takes us up to now, we are just getting back into the same old stuff. Nathan started his English class on the 6th and I am trying to keep myself busy while he is at school and while he is doing homework.

Gingerbread house

We made our first gingerbread house this year and we had Amy's brother Phillip over to help. So we didn't exactly make the gingerbread from scratch (thank you costco) but who does that anyways! It was such a fun night, sitting at the table listening to christmas music drinking hot chocolate with peppermint making a gingerbread house with christmas lights on in the house. Such a perfect evening and great company!!

Thanksgiving times 2!!

Because all of our family lives so close, we were able to have 2 thanksgiving meals! We had breakfast and lunch at Amy's parents house and then went over and had dinner at Nathan's parent's house. We both had to try and limit ourselves at both places, but only partly succeeded as there was way too much good food. During this time of thanks, we are both so thankful for having our families so close to us. There are many people that don't have anyone close by, so we count ourselves as lucky! We are also both so thankful to our Father in Heaven for allowing us to find each other and for the many fun and exciting experiences we have already had together. We can't wait for many, many more to come!

GO MHS FOOTBALL!!

Nathan and I were able to go to my brother Phillip's football game today (Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood), and what a great game it was!! It was one of the games for the State Playoffs. We both think it was one of the best football games we have been to in a long time, if not ever! They won 20-19, after getting a touchdown in the last 3 minutes and having a very important interception when the other team was on the 5 yard line keeping them from a field goal attempt. Phillip had some great tackles that kept the offenders from getting into the endzone.

They will be playing next friday at 7 pm at the edmonds stadium. Come and watch, it should be a great game!

We had so much fun on our first Halloween together! I came up with the most brilliant idea to be Wilma and Fred Flintstone. My mother-in-law and I made my costume, (mostly her) and I bought Nathan's. We were able to go to 3 parties and our church's trunk-or-treat. The cute prehistoric couple.

We had our friend Chris and Allison Nelson come over tonight to carve pumpkins. We had such a great time that we didn't take any pictures of us, just the carved pumpkins. Here are the pics of our pumpkins photo shoot!

I decided it was high time we got a blog to keep everyone updated on what we are up to!

On May 12th 2007, we were married in the Seattle temple for time and all eternity! We were so lucky to have close family and friends with us to share in this wonderful experience!

We went to Vegas on our honeymoon and then move into Nathan's very small apartment for 3 months. About 2 months ago we moved into our new apartment, nearly double the square footage and we are loving it!

We will keep you all updated here so come back from time to time and see what exciting adventure we have taken!
